Sgt. Chad's Drug Arrest Roundup

Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office, reported as following on Monday.

On Feb. 26, at 11:40 p.m., a Dade County deputy observed a passenger car leaving a gas station that matched the description of a vehicle that had been reportedly used by someone selling drugs in Trenton. The deputy also observed that the vehicle had blue lights inside the wheel wells that were illegal to be displayed on a moving motor vehicle.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 12000 block of Interstate 59. He requested the assistance of the Trenton Police Department's K-9 officer to do a free-air search around the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs, and the deputies searched the vehicle.

They located a large amount of pills inside the vehicle, a container of Ziploc bags, a firearm and approximately $2,500 cash. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the jail for booking on several charges.

Andre D. Jenkins, 49, of Chattanooga, was charged with

  • five counts of possession of a Schedule 2 Drug

  • possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

  • possession with the intent to distribute

  • operating an unauthorized vehicle with blue lights.

Dade Sheriff Ray Cross wants to thank his deputies for continuing to get illegal narcotics off our streets.
