The "rock wall" -- a recreational structure of faux-stone with hand- and footholds for climbing -- is a new attraction at this year's Dade Days festival, sponsored by the Dade Chamber of Commerce, which will take place in Veterans Square this Saturday, Sept. 10, beginning at 3 p.m.

The Dade County Chamber of Commerce announced last week that "Dade Days," the county festival that has historically taken place in early summer, will this year kick off the C of C's autumn lineup of events. The C of C invites all and sundry to Veterans Park on the Trenton town square this Saturday, Sept. 10, for food and fun from 3-8 p.m., followed by an outdoor movie that screens at 9 p.m.

There will be food vendors and lots of kid-friendly entertainment including a bounce house, pony rides, sand art and a climbing wall. Also featured is "The Battle of Lights," a barbecue competition among Dade's Sheriff's Department, emergency medical technicians and volunteer departments.

The movie will be The Jungle Book, the Disney movie made from the Rudyard Kipling classic.

The festival was organized in some haste this year and the Chamber's Cheryl Painter says there's still room for more vendors. If you'd like a space, call her at (706) 657-4488.
