Partners Plant Pansies In Parched Park

Trenton Tree City President Eloise Gass is always looking for new blood -- "Our members keep dying," she complained at the last city commission meeting -- and on Monday she got her wish. Tree City got an infusion of youth and beauty as members of Dade High School's FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) showed up with shovels and rakes to help Ms. Gass and crew plant winter pansies at Jenkins Park.

From left to right are Ava Beach, Jed Henderson, Joy Golden, Cassidy Walker, Caleb Mealor, Ms. Gass, Drennan Evearitt, Barbara Bradley and Rachel Thorne.

The mingled group planted two flowerbeds at the drought-parched city park, forming a bucket brigade to fill jugs from Town Creek to water the pansies. With the drought going nowhere--and the young people going back to class--Ms. Gass hopes Trenton Fire Chief JERRY KYZER will send a tanker to water the pansies now and then. If he does not, The Dade Planet is sure to hear all about it--and has been known to pass on such intelligence in the interest of furthering the free and unfettered exchange of information...
