Sheriff Cross Busts Rocks with Deputy

This weekend, a Dade County deputy along with Sheriff Ray Cross initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 299 and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the deputy and Sheriff Cross were able to recover a fully-loaded handgun, over an ounce of marijuana (felony amount), 23 oxycodone pills and six methadone pills.

In addition, miscellaneous drug objects and scales were recovered from the vehicle.

William Rocks, 26, of Wildwood was arrested and taken into custody. Rocks was officially charged with: possession of marijuana with the intent to sell; possession of a schedule II substance with intent to sell; possession of drug-related objects; and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Bail was set at $20,000 and the subject did make bail late Saturday evening.

"It is good to get out here and work alongside my deputies," said Sheriff Cross. "I'm pleased that we were able to stop the sale of multiple drugs this weekend."
