Saturday Early Voting This Weekend: Halloween Fun Downtown to Follow

This Saturday, Oct. 29, the Dade polls at the county Administrative Building will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. for early voting except for a half-hour lunch break from noon to 12:30 p.m. Early voting continues next week, Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., lunch break the same on all days. The general election is the following Tuesday, Nov. 8, when polling places throughout the county will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Poll Officer Lowanna Vaughn said on Thursday that 1350 voters had cast ballots so far, which is heavy for Dade.

Also, don't forget the free Halloween fun fixed up for the younger set by the Dade Chamber of Commerce on the Trenton Town Square and at the Dade Public Library. The annual Trick or Treat Alley is from 5:30-8 p.m. on the square, followed by a paid event, the Zombie Walk, for $5 or $10, depending on whether you want help with your makeup, beginning at 8 p.m. Following that is a free outdoor movie. Call the C of C for more information: (706) 657-4488.

Remember, too, this weekend is your last chance to contribute to the Dade Coat and Blanket Drive. Collection boxes will be located at the Dade High home football game on Friday and at the Zombie Walk on Saturday, as well as at Citizens Bank, Bank of Dade and the Dade County Sheriff's Department.
