Library News: Learn to "Cricut" at Your Library

October was a very busy month for us. November will be a bit slower because of the holidays, but we still have quite a bit going on.

We will have two more Ready-to-Read programs this month: Turkeys on Thursday, Nov. 10, and Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 17, both at 10:30 a.m. Our Family Movie will be Finding Dory and it will be shown on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m.

We will have two adult programs in November. Our regular Book Club meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. We will be discussing Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham.

Also on the 15th, from 5-6 p.m., we will have a class on using the Cricut Machine at the library. The Cricut Machine is an electronic cutting machine for DIY projects and crafts. It precisely cuts a wide variety of materials from paper to iron-on to adhesive vinyl, even thick materials like leather and burlap. The class is free, but if you use the machine later, there will be a charge of $3 for up to an hour of cutting and then $2 for each hour after. This will cover the cost of mats and blades. We do not have paper for sale. If you come to the class and learn how to set up your own design center on your home computer, the actual cutting will not take long.

The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Clear your fines up and help the local food bank at the same time. We will take one can of food for every $1 owed in fines, up to $10.

We had over 1,800 trick-or-treaters who came through the library on the evening of Trick or Treat Alley! We hope everyone had a great time, and thanks to all the volunteers who helped.
