Library News: Fantastic Beasts at the Library!

On Tuesday, November 15, there will be a free class on how to use the library’s Cricut machine. It will be from 5-6 p.m. The Book Club will meet also meet on the 15th at 7 p.m. to discuss Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham.

Join us Thursday for some fun activities. Our Ready-to-Read class will be about Thanksgiving, of course. It is at 10:30 a.m. as usual.

For those of us who can never get enough of Harry Potter and his world, we will have a Fantastic Beasts launch party from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday the 17th. We’ll be playing Harry Potter-themed games and having snacks! If you haven’t been keeping up, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book written by J.K. Rowling in 2001 under the name Newt Scamander. Scamander was the author of one of the fictional textbooks Harry used in the first Harry Potter book. Now that book has been made into a movie starring Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. It takes place in America’s magical world in the 1920s. The movie comes out in theaters on Thursday.

Family Movie Day is Wednesday, November 23, and the show starts at 1 p.m. We’ll be showing Finding Dory.

We have a new author in town. Rex Blevins has published his memoirs, As I Recall: Memories From a Lifetime in Dade County. It can be ordered from Amazon. I already have a copy, and I’m sure the library will have one soon.

Remember that the library will be closed for Thanksgiving November 24-25 and will reopen on Saturday, November 26.

The Dade First Meeting that is usually on the fourth Thursday of each month at the library will be on Thursday, December, 1 instead, because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
