DeKalb Lawmen Bust Wanted Men With Guns

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received multiple anonymous phone call about possible illegal activity going on at a residence on County Road 19 in Grove Oak, Ala. On Dec. 11, deputies and investigators went to the residence to check.

When they arrived at the residence, they found Michael Jason Walter, 30, of Grove Oak, and Timothy Ray Smith, 29, of Fyffe,Ala., both of whom had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Walter was found to be in possession of a firearm, and three other firearms were recovered from the residence that could possibly be stolen. As a result, Walter was arrested on a warrant for probation violation and was also charged with Felon Forbidden to Possess Firearm.

Smith was also arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear. An investigation is still ongoing on the recovery of the firearms.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris expressed gratitude to the citizens whose tips led to these arrests. “As deputies and investigators continue to work day and night to make cases such as these,” he said, “we thank citizens for their phone calls and tips that help make these arrests possible.”
