Library News: Tax Help On the Way. Oh, and We've Got Popcorn.

We are already getting questions at the library about tax forms and tax preparation. We received some tax forms today: 1040, 1040A and 1040 EZ. For additional forms, go to IRS.gov/forms and print them. If you don't have a computer and printer, come to the library and they can be printed here.

The free tax preparation that we have had in the past is done by AARP volunteers. Our manager spoke to AARP today and they said that the list of volunteers and sites will be posted on January 15. Go to the AARP website or call them at (888) 687-2277 after January 15. The volunteers decide what location they will use, so at the present time, we don’t know if the library will be a site or not. We will let everyone know when we know.

We will be taping Live History on Wednesday, January 18, at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Drop by and record your memories of Dade County.

Our Ready-to-Read program this week will be about Snowmen, at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 19. This is also National Popcorn Day. Come by the library for a free bag of popcorn while supplies last!

There will be a FREE computer class at the library on Tuesday, January 24, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Call the library at (706) 657-7587 to sign up. This class will be on using Microsoft Word 2010.

We still have a Used Book Sale going on at the library--$5 a bag.

Our Book Club selection for February is Jacksonland by Steve Inskeep. It is a nonfiction book about Cherokee Chief John Ross and the Great American Land Grab. The Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month.

We’re going to have a storytelling event on January 28. Watch for details in next week’s paper.
