DeKalb Makes Another Arrest in Church Robberies

DeKalb County Sheriff's investigators have continued to pursue all leads in a spate of thefts of rural churches in December. Two arrests were made in January, and on Feb. 9, deputies arrested another suspect.

Markus Tibbett, 22, of Albertville, Ala., was charged with theft of property and criminal mischief in connection to this case. Tibbett faces a second theft of property charge in another case.

The investigation started after churches in Fyffe, Geraldine and Crossville, Ala., reported thefts of their central heating and air conditioning units. The other two suspects in the robberies, Anthony Collins and James Edward Barron, were arrested on Jan. 3. DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris says the investigation continues and more charges are possible.

“I am proud of our investigators and deputies for their persistence and hard work to conduct a thorough investigation into each and every case that they handle,” said DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris.
