Library News: Come to Living History Reception March 31 at the Library!

On Friday, March 31, we will have a reception at the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Captured, our living-history-of-Dade-County exhibit. The exhibit consists of the pictures of and from Dade County that have been submitted to us for this project.

We will also be showing the living histories which have been video-recorded. Light refreshments will be served at the reception and the exhibit will be on display throughout the month of April. Some pictures will be permanently displayed in our Local History Room. This program is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly. GCA is a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Ready-to-Read this week will be a virtual journey to Australia. Join us at 10:30 a.m., mates.

On Friday, March 24, we will still be giving assistance in hooking people up with free ebook downloads on Overdrive. Bring in your device—tablet, phone, e-reader—and we’ll show you how to access Overdrive using your library card number and personal PIN. Then you will be able to download e-books and audiobooks for FREE.

I have spent a very pleasant two to three hours today helping one of my former students work on her genealogy. Members of the Dade County Historical Society will help patrons who need assistance with this. Call or come by the library and see if we can find someone available to help out. We do not have someone here every day, but you can make an appointment.

On Saturday, March 25, the Dade Historical Society will have a genealogy workshop from about 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You can drop in during this time and find someone to help you.
