Library News: Come To Our CAPTURED Reception Next Friday!

I wanted to mention some things that are coming up at the library in the future. In late April, we will be starting a new club, Bedtime Math’s Crazy 8s Club, for kids in grades 3-5. Space is limited so check out our Dade County Public Library’s Facebook page or call us for information on dates and sign-ups. The number is (706) 657-7857.

Summer Reading is just around the corner! Come help us “Build a Better World” with reading and activities. Sign-ups begin May 15, so come by the library and get your packet. The kickoff party will be on June 1. The Summer Reading Program will be from June 1 to July 15. Some of our favorite performers will be back!

We had a good crowd for Book Club last week in spite of the threat of storms. Our book for April is a nonfiction book, A Voyage Long and Strange by Tony Horowitz. It tells the stories of the Vikings, Conquistadors, Lost Colonists and other adventurers in early America. The Book Club meets on the third Tuesday (April 18 is the next date) at 7 p.m. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us.

Friday, March 31, will be the opening day of "Captured," our living history exhibit. We will have pictures on display and we will be showing videos of living history. There will be a reception with light refreshments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit will be up through the month of April.

This week’s Ready-to-Read will be about Community Helpers.
