The Book Club will meet at the library on April 18 at 7 p.m. to discuss A Voyage Long and Strange by Tony Horwitz. In school we learn about the arrivals of Columbus and the Pilgrims in America, but very little about the 100-plus years between these two events. That’s what this book is about—the Vikings, the Conquistadors, the Lost Colonists and other Adventure in Early America. Anyone is welcome.
Next week’s Ready-to-Read class on Thursday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m., will be an egg hunt. It will take place at Jenkins Park.
The Crazy 8 Math Club begins on April 27. This is for children in grades 3-5. Call the library at (706) 657-7857 to register your child.
We will have another sewing class at the library on Saturday, April 15, from noon to 1 p.m. We will be teaching how to sew pillowcases. We have all the supplies. You will sew one for yourself and one for the Shriner’s Hospital. If you have a sewing machine, please bring it. Everything else will be provided. Space is limited! Call and sign up at (706) 657-7857. Open for ages 13 and up.
Our Family Movie for the month of April is Fantastic Beasts. I’ve seen it and it’s a good one. It will be showing at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20.
Remember that the Dade County Living History will be on display throughout the month of April, both the pictures and the video. We will be finalizing the pictures for the book this week, so if anyone has put off submitting a picture, get it to us right away.
