What be yer scallywag name, me hearty? Well, mine is Whale Slappy Fishhawk.

It’s just a fun little activity we have at the library to remind everyone about our program Mango Languages. Go to the Cherokee Regional Library website at chrl.org and look for the icon for Mango Languages. Set up an account and you can access instruction for 72 different languages (including Pirate, I believe). This is a free service for library patrons.

Bedtime Math’s Crazy 8 Club begins this week on Thursday, April 27. This club is for kids in 3rd to 5th grades and will meet on Thursdays, April 27 to June 15, from 4-5 p.m. at the library. To sign up, please call (706) 657-7857. Kids will build stuff, run and jump, make music, maybe make a mess, but be learning math at the same time. Space is limited so be sure to sign up!

Our Captured! display of photos made in Dade County will be up a few more days. Come and see scenic photos, historic photos and photos of characters, all from Dade County. Work on the picture book is going on right now.

Need a good camera for a vacation, a special occasion or a project? The library has two cameras available for checkout. They are Nikon Coolpix S3700 models. They can be checked out for one week, along with a charger, case and memory card.

This week’s Ready-to-Read will be about South America. May’s Book Club selection is The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore. It is a thrilling novel based on actual events, about the nature of genius, the cost of ambition and the battle to electrify America. Join us on the third Tuesday of the month (May 16).

The 2017 Blue Ribbon Glow Run event for Child Abuse Awareness will take place on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Dade County High School track starting at 8 p.m. The race begins at 9 p.m. There are registration forms at the library.

Remember, the library is now open Tuesday through Saturday and we have a book drop at the corner if you need to make use of it.
