The DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Department reports that its deputies and local police departments have recovered a stolen vehicle.
On Friday, a Sheriff’s Department press release said, Henegar Police Chief Randell Smith got a tip about a stolen vehicle from Gadsden being at a residence on Highway 75 in Henagar. Chief Smith called DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies and the Ider Police Department to assist in the recovery of the vehicle.
When the officers arrived, the owner of the residence, Rayford Levoy Goodridge (left), 54, of Henagar, came to the door. Officers asked if suspect James Christopher Arsenault, 26, of Valley Head, was at the residence. Goodridge stated that Arsenault was not there.
In the process of talking to Goodridge and other individuals present at the residence, the officers found Arsenault hiding from officers inside the home. Arsenault said he had been driving the stolen vehicle, and officers also found drugs on his person.
Arsenault (right) was arrested for two warrants of Failure to Appear and charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, three counts of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.
Goodridge was also arrested for Hindering Prosecution 1st.
DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris commented: “As most of the citizens of DeKalb County know, law enforcement does not stop at 5 p.m. or they do not go home at midnight; the men and women of law enforcement work 24 hours a day to keep our citizens as safe as possible. Thank you for supporting us, the men and women of law enforcement.”
