Next week’s Summer Reading Club program (Thursday, June 22) will feature magician Ken Scott. He’s been with us before and is a great favorite. As always, the program begins at 10:30 a.m. The library opens at 10 a.m. The next Thursday, June 29, we’ll have or Lego Expo. Kids who want to participate can pick up a form at the library.
We’re hoping this week will be a little less challenging than last week was. Last Tuesday, our air conditioning was down, but it was repaired by Wednesday. On Thursday our Internet was down briefly, which meant our checkout system wasn’t working. We do have an alternative system for checking out books, but we can’t look anything up. That was resolved in less than an hour, thank goodness, but as I said, it was challenging. We appreciate our patrons for being patient with us.
We have a job opening at the library for 28 hours per week. Our children’s specialist, Melissa Hopkins, is leaving us in July to take another job, so there will be an opening there. A high school diploma or equivalent is a minimum requirement. Primary responsibilities include planning and conducting children’s story time and Summer Reading programming.
A successful candidate must be enthusiastic, creative and organized and have knowledge of children’s literature. Computer skills and experience working with the public are important. Retirement and flexible benefits are included.
Applicants must submit a completed application package, including cover letter, resume, and Library Employment Application form (found at Lafayette, Rossville, Chickamauga, and Dade public libraries and at www.chrl.org) to Lecia Eubanks, Cherokee Regional Library, 305 South Duke Street, Lafayette, GA 30738 by July 14. Applications may be turned in at the Dade or Lafayette Library as well.
