On Sunday, DeKalb County (Ala.) sheriff’s deputies and Ider police officers conducting a routine driver’s license check arrested a Trenton man for drugs.
The law officers were stopping cars at a checkpoint at the intersection of County Roads 169 and 812 in Bryant. When Charles Wooten (left), 63, of Trenton, and Christi Ruth Allison (right), 46, of Flat Rock, pulled up to the checkpoint, the officers noticed Wooten moving a black container. When they asked about it, Wooten gave it to them. Inside the container were two baggies, one that contained methamphetamine and the other containing marijuana, some prescription drugs, and a glass pipe.
At this time, the DeKalb County Drug Task Force was contacted. Allison and Wooten were both arrested and charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office also had a Failure to comply warrant on Wooten.
On Monday, two separate traffic stops were conducted, one on County Road 85 in Henagar, where a consensual search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of a small black case that contained syringes and baggies with methamphetamine inside. The DeKalb County Drug Task Force was
contacted. Timothy Wayne Smith (left), 45, of Fort Payne, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On the other traffic stop, a deputy pulled over Derick Nash Farmer, 20, of Fyffe, on Alabama Highway 35 in Fyffe. The deputy asked Farmer if he had any illegal drugs, and Farmer (right) was subsequently found to have a small blue cigar pack that contained “spice,” or synthetic marijuana, on his person. The DeKalb County Drug Task force was
contacted. Farmer was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris commented: “These deputies, Ider police officers and the Drug Task Force are doing a great job on trying to rid drugs from our county.”
