Summer Reading went out with a bang, with lots of prizes given out and most importantly many, many books read! Our last program was a visit from the Chattanooga Zoo and they brought three special guests with them (animals).
We’ve had a good response for our free passes to the Chattanooga Zoo. In fact, we’ve got a waiting list now, so if you are interested, call the library at 657-7857 and get on the list.
This was also the last children’s program for our children’s specialist, Melissa Hopkins. She will be leaving after this week to go to a new job at a university library. We appreciate all she her hard work here at the library.
We will take a few weeks off, but our regular children’s program for preschool children will resume on Aug. 17. It will still be on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
The free lunches for kids through the School Nutrition Program will be available at the library Tuesday-Friday through the end of July.
Keeping statistics is an important part of library work. As we’ve finished our summer programs, I thought I would share some of them with you. We had 16 children and teen programs this summer with 1,538 people attending. For our Summer Reading program, we had 240 kids enrolled. Of those, 111 completed the program.
