DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff’s investigators had an ongoing investigation on Joseph Wayne Willis, 31, of Fort Payne, for a burglary that occurred on County Road 270 in Fort Payne back in June. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a warrant for Willis for this burglary.

When the Etowah County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office learned of the warrant, officers there contacted DeKalb County investigators to let them know they had arrested Willis on unrelated charges. A hold was put on Willis for his extradition to the DeKalb County Detention Center at a later date.

DeKalb Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson commented: “This is a good example of how our deputies and investigators work diligently with surrounding counties to solve cases, and thanks to Etowah County for being observant on the warrant and calling us about Willis.”
