Home Invasion on Carrell Street

Editor's note: Dade County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Chad Payne submitted the following correction to this release: "The second incident occurred on PEBBLEBROOK LANE. Not Pebblestone. Again, sorry for the typo."

Today Dade County deputies were dispatched to a home invasion on Carrell Street.

The deputies responding to the disturbance were advised by Dispatch that the suspect was breaking out the window to the residence. Dispatch then advised that the homeowner was armed and had fired two warning shots in attempts to scare the suspect away from the residence.

When the Dade deputies arrived on the scene the complainants told them that the male invader had run across a field in front of their residence. The deputies requested that their K-9 be dispatched to the scene to track the suspect. The K-9 Sergeant quickly arrived on scene and began tracking the path of the suspect.

While the K-9 and deputies tracked the suspect, dispatch advised that a nother complainant from Pebblestone Drive had called and said that a male had broken through her front window and entered her house, and that she had fled to the neighbor's house.

Several units responded to the residence on Pebblestone Drive and heard a very loud noise coming from inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence and located the suspect. The suspect was taken in to custody and transported to the hospital for his injuries from broken glass.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more details, as well as charges, will be released at a later date. Dade Sheriff Ray Cross wants known that he is very proud of his deputies, the Davis Fire Department and Dade County EMS for their quick response and apprehension of the suspect.
