Man Shot in Kilpatrick

DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that a man was shot during an altercation in the Kilpatrick community on Sunday. The individual was transported to Marshall Medical South by DeKalb Ambulance Service. His condition is unknown at this time.

DeKalb County deputies along with officers from the Crossville and Geraldine police departments responded to the July 30 call from a Road 926, Kilpatrick, residence about an unwanted guest and shots fired. When the officers arrived, they found that two Hispanic males at the residence had been fighting. As the men struggled over a firearm, it had discharged, striking one of the males in the lower part of the body.

No arrests or charges have been made so far. This is an ongoing investigation, said police, and no further information will be released at this time.

Chief Deputy Edmondson commented: “Thank you to the deputies, Crossville police, and Geraldine police for their prompt arrival and for their assistance. With this being an open case we will be questioning the individuals that were witnesses at the scene so we can make the proper arrest if needed.”
