Library News: School Year Begins Again And So does Ready-to-Read

The Book Club will meet at the library on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. The book to be discussed at this meeting is But What If We’re Wrong?, a nonfiction book by Chuck Klosterman. Klosterman makes us think about the present as if it were the past. This book asks questions designed to really make us think. Everyone is welcome.

The Ready-to-Read program for preschoolers will resume on Thursday, Aug. 17. It begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts about an hour. During the first half of the program, a staff member will read books and do learning activities with the children. Then during the last half hour, they will do craft activities. The library opens at 10 a.m.

As school starts back, we hope to see some of our summer reading patrons here at the library in the afternoons after school. The library is open every day after school except Mondays. The library is open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, 6 p.m. on Thursdays and 5 p.m. on Fridays. It is also open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Books are checked out for two weeks and movies for one week.

We still have a few Lake Winnie coupons at the library. They are valid for Aug. 13 and Aug. 20, and they are Buy One, Get One Free.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, we will have a Basic Questions Computer Class from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feel free to drop in any time during that period to get some help or get your questions answered.

On Saturday, Aug. 12, we will have a Sewing 101 class for children from noon to 1 p.m. Please call (706) 657-7857 to sign up as space is limited.
