Dade Deputies Arrest New Home Screamer

On Friday, Dade County deputies were dispatched to a disturbance involving a male with an outstanding warrant against him on New Home Road. Upon arrival, they were advised by the complainant that a male had been screaming outside and harassing the neighborhood.

Deputies attempted to locate the subject but were at first unable to do so. But both deputies remained in the area in hopes of locating the subject, and ultimately found him standing outside a residence on New Home Loop. The deputies reported that the subject ran behind a house, then reappeared stating that "he wasn't a felon" and that "he wasn't going back to jail."

The deputies took the man into custody for the outstanding felony warrant (theft by taking) and while checking him for weapons found two knives, two drug pipes and a baggie that contained what a crystalline substance. One drug pipe contained what appeared to be marijuana residue, and one contained a white residue.

The subject, Daniel L. Thomas, 36, of New Home, was taken in to custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently in the Dade County Jail.
