Library News: Library branching out to include sewing, baking, scrapbooking

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, we will have a drop-in computer class at the library. Come in any time between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Ursula will help you with your computer questions. Some people may be interested in learning about email or getting on Facebook, while others may have questions about checking out ebooks or learning more about using Word or other programs. Ursula will help you with the questions you have. It’s all free.

The Ready-to-Read program will resume on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m. This program is for pre-school children and will meet weekly. This week’s program will be an introduction to the library.

Libraries are “branching out.” Our library has some items available that you might not expect to find in a library. Need to do a little sewing, but don’t have access to a sewing machine? The library has three sewing machines that may be used on the premises in one of the meeting rooms. You will need to bring your own thread and materials.

We also have some character cake pans that can be checked out, used and returned. Are you a scrapbooker? We have had a good selection of scrapbooking materials donated to the library and patrons are welcome to use them free of charge. Just bring your scrapbook and your own glue. We have scrapbook paper, embellishments, and die cuts. Since they were donated, they are also free of charge.
