Dade County Sheriff's Department: Recent Crime Report



On Monday, Aug. 14, at approximately midnight, a Dade County deputy conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 59 at exit 11. During the traffic stop, a passenger was observed pushing his hand down in the seam of the seat after being asked to exit the vehicle. A K-9 search of the vehicle was conducted and produced a brown pill bottle with no label containing 44 Oxycodone pills.

All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of a Schedule 2 drug. These were Christopher Germany, 32, Daniel Germany, 41, and Joshua Byrum, 24.


On Saturday, Aug. 19, at approximately 11:30 pm, a traffic stop was conducted on a Volkswagen at Hooker Cemetery Rd and Highway 299. It was found that the vehicle had been stolen from Fort Payne, Ala. The driver, Michael ​​Long (right), 30, was charged with bringing stolen property into the state, driving while license suspended/revoked, and a window tint violation.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 20, deputies were conducting an approved safety checkpoint at Highways 11 and 299. Multiple citations were issued for violations ranging from open container to no proof of insurance.


One subject, Sean Willyerd (left), 41, was arrested for a felony warrant out of Hamilton County, Tenn. That subject also was written two citations for expired tag and no insurance.

Also, a Jeep Cherokee was recovered on Aug. 20 after a high-speed chase that started on Murphy Hollow Road, went through Marion County and ended on the railroad tracks near Bishop Road. The occupants fled on foot and were not captured. The Jeep was stolen out of LaFayette.
