Update: Trenton man dies in I-59/24 Accident; Back Valley Incident an OD

Here is what The Planet could learn about two events that complicated traffic and raised local curiosity around Dade County last night and this morning:

The automobile accident that tied up traffic this morning at the I-24/I-59 interchange left one dead.

“A Dodge truck was traveling westbound on I-24 at its intersection with I-59 southbound,” wrote a spokesperson for GSP, answering The Planet’s inquiry. “The truck entered the median, overturned and ejected the driver. The driver was fatally injured.”

GSP did not immediately release the name of the fatality but later in the day identified him as Donald Lee Nicholas, 45, of Trenton.

As for the incident that brought police and emergency vehicles to a Back Valley residence around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, all the information that Sgt. Chad Payne of the Dade County Sheriff’s Department would release was that it was a case of overdose, and that emergency service personnel had transported the sufferer to the hospital.
