Sgt Chad's Weekly Crime Roundup


These are crimes reported by Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, at approximately 9 p.m., a K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 299 at the Citgo gas station. A K-9 free-air search around the vehicle indicated that there were possibly illegal drugs in the car. It was found that the driver was in possession of marijuana, less than one ounce. The driver was also charged with DUI, too fast for conditions and tag light requirements.


Also on Wednesday, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Derick Wayne Scholl (left), 28, of Trenton, was arrested for aggravated stalking on Pebblebrook Lane. On Saturday, Sept. 16, at approximately 3:30 am, Trever Reed Williams, 19, of Chattanooga, was observed driving on Highway 136 West at a high rate of speed in thick fog. He was also observed not stopping for a red light at the intersection of Hwy 136 and Hwy 11. Williams was stopped at the Circle K on Highway 11 and judged to be under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with DUI,


On Saturday night at approximately 9:15 p.m., Dade County deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Murphy Hollow Road when they observed that the window tint of the vehicle was in violation of the law. During the traffic stop, it was found that the offender was in possession of methamphetamine. Daniel Eugene Compton (right), 42, of Chattanooga, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects, obstruction, tampering with evidence and window tint violation.

Early Sunday morning, Sept. 17, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Dade deputies observed a vehicle with heavy driver's side damage traveling on Hwy 136. Deputies observed the vehicle cross the fog line several times before the vehicle came to a stop. [Editor’s note: The fog line is the white line on the right side of the road, next to the shoulder.] The driver was deemed to be driving under the influence of alcohol. [cid:image005.jpg@01D33069.D317AD80] Joey Land McCord, 38, of Flat Rock, Ala., was charged with DUI Alcohol and failure to maintain lane.
