DeKalb Arrests Perps for Break-in, "Spice"

Kenneth Allen Gregory, 53 of Fort Payne, Ala., was taken into custody last week by the DeKalb (Ala.) Sheriff's Office. The Sept. 14 arrest was pursuant to multiple warrants including burglary 3rd and theft of property 1st in connection with a break-in at a residence on County Road 931 back in July of this year. Gregory also had a warrant for failure to appear for possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies arrested Gregory after a short vehicle pursuit in which Gregory collided with a utility pole after losing control of his vehicle. Gregory faces multiple charges from the pursuit as well as other previous charges, including attempting to elude a police officer.

On Sept. 15, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call about a vehicle running off the road and into a fence on Highway 75 in Fyffe. When deputies arrived, they observed Aaron Bruce Weaver, 32 of Fyffe, throwing out a plastic bag with what appeared to be "spice," or synthetic marijuana, inside. Deputies asked Weaver about the bag and he admitted that it was his. The Drug and Major Crimes Unit was called and Weaver was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson commented: “Deputies and investigators did an outstanding job on being observant in both arrests, and thanks to the concerned citizen for calling in tips. We are glad to have Gregory in custody and off the streets.”
