On Wednesday, DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff’s deputies, the DeKalb Drug and Major Crimes Unit and the Fort Payne and Geraldine police departments came together to do an eradication of drugs all over the county.
With the help of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Alabama National Guard Counter Drug Unit, which flew their helicopters over DeKalb in this concerted drug hunt, over 1500 marijuana plants were found in various locations throughout the county. The sheriff’s department says federal authorities value mature plants at approximately $2000 each.
Also recovered was a truck that had been reported stolen three days prior. The vehicle was found in a field covered with tree branches.
Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson commented: “All of these agencies have worked long hours and have done an outstanding job of ridding our county of these drugs.”
