Grand Jury Indictments

A Dade County grand jury convened under Superior Court Judge Brian House during this October session heard evidence in five cases and issued five true bills, or indictments.

Indictments are not proof of guilt; grand juries hear only evidence against an accused person. Those indicted are innocent until proven guilty. They have a chance to mount a defense later in the judicial process.

Those indicted by the grand jury are:

  • Daniel Thomas Lane for theft by taking, tampering with evidence and obstruction of an officer. The grand jury issued a separate indictment against Lane for possession of methamphetamine plus two counts of possession of drug-related objects.

  • Ruby Downer for burglary in the first degree, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

  • Jason Ray Beam, for burglary in the first degree, entering an automobile and criminal trespass.

  • Gerald Charles Young, for two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and reckless driving.
