Sgt. Chad's Weekly Crime Roundup



These are arrests reported by Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, at approximately 11 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 1900 block of Highway 299 on a vehicle not using its headlights after dark. After contact was made with the driver, and a field sobriety test was administered, it was found that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. It was also found that the driver was in possession of an open bottle of alcohol in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.


Starley W Alsup (right), 42, of Bryant, Ala., was arrested and charted with:

  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Open Container Violation

  • Headlights Required.

Also on Oct. 10, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 3000 block of Highway 299 on a vehicle with a broken taillight. After making contact with the driver, it was found that he was driving on a suspended license and he had the odor of marijuana coming from his person. He was found to be in possession of marijuana, less than one ounce.


Wendell L. Nance (left), 24, of Whiteside, Tenn., was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Marijuana (misd)

Broken Taillight

Driving with a Suspended License.
