Library News: Come to Trick-or-Treat Wonderland on Saturday!

Join us for Trick or Treat at the library on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There will be booths set up in Veterans Park in front of the library as well. The theme at the library is Alice in Wonderland. Come and see the White Rabbit, Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and more. There will be treats at several stations. Explore Wonderland for a magical trick-or-treat experience!

Monday, Oct. 30, is McLibrary Night. Support your local library by eating at McDonald’s from 4 to 8 p.m. that evening. A portion of the sales will go to the library for programs, and all tips go to the library. Members of the Friends of the Library and staff members will be there to help out. There will be some entertainment as well. Both dine-in and take-out orders will count. Thanks to our local McDonald’s for supporting the Dade County Public Library.

Several people have mentioned that they already have some of the Dade County Historical ornaments, but they don’t have all of them. As we understand it, the ABWA, which originally sold the ornaments, ordered the Dyer Mercantile ornament last, and very few if any of those were sold. There are 12 ornaments in the complete set. If you are missing one, it is most likely the Dyer Mercantile ornament. We have those available at the library, as well as the Dade Courthouse. Any other ornaments you may be missing may be ordered.

We’re having a bag sale of used books, $1 for a bag of books. Going soon.

The library will close early on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31. It will close at 5 p.m. instead of the usual closing time of 7 p.m.
