Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office, reported as follows:

Today at approximately 12:15 p.m., while Dade County deputies and detectives were checking out a stolen vehicle they had just recovered on Creek Road, a possibly suspect vehicle passed by the scene. A Dade County deputy attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, and the vehicle immediately attempted to flee.

As the vehicle fled the deputy, it approached the intersection of Highway 11 and Sarah Chapel Road. The suspect vehicle did not stop but attempted to turn south on Highway 11, and in doing so it struck an oncoming vehicle. The suspect vehicle left the roadway and ended up down an embankment, with both female occupants entrapped in the vehicle.

After a lengthy extrication, the female driver was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center. The female passenger was transported to Erlanger via ground ambulance. The driver of the vehicle struck on Highway 11 was not transported to the hospital, though the vehicle was badly damaged.

After further investigation, the sheriff's office determined that the suspect vehicle was also stolen. Charges are pending for the two females in the suspect vehicle, and warrants will be obtained.
