DeKalb Weekend Arrests Include Burglary, Bestiality



On Sunday, Oct. 29, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a homeowner on Highway 117 in Valley Head who was holding two men in his house. The homeowner detained the subjects, Robert Brewster, 34, of Valley Head, and James Himber (left), 39, of Henagar until Ider police, Henagar police and DeKalb County deputies arrived. The law officers arrested Brewster and Himber, who are charged with burglary 3rd at this time, with more charges pending on both subjects.

During the investigation of the alleged burglary, investigators and deputies went to Brewster’s residence on County Road 121 in Valley Head to recover possibly stolen items. As a result, Brewster was also charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Also arrested was Melissa Louise Harrison, 35, of Valley Head, on the same charges.

On the same day, investigators and deputies went to a residence on Highway 75 in Ider to execute a search warrant for stolen property. During the search, Dustin Franco, 33, of Pisgah, was arrested for marijuana 2nd, drug paraphernalia, obstructing government operations and resisting arrest. Arrested as well was Bridget Lashae Mosher, 26, of Ider, who was charged with marijuana 2nd and drug paraphernalia with other charges still pending. ​


​On Monday, Oct. 30, investigators, DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies and Sylvania police executed a search warrant on Spear Street in Sylvania. During the search Robert Bishop (left), 27, of Sylvania, was arrested for two counts of dissemination of obscene matter, possession of obscene matter and bestiality. The search also led to the arrest of Ashley Hartline (below), 26, of Rainsville, for sodomy 1st, dissemination of obscene material


and production of obscene material.

Also on Monday, DeKalb County deputies responded to a domestic violence call on U.S, Highway 11 north of Valley Head. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a male subject, Scottie Lee White, 27, of Valley Head lying in the roadway. White was being attended by a citizen who had stopped to help. Deputies also found a female, Kristy Nacole Hatfield, 34, also of Valley Head, standing in the yard of the residence on Highway 11. Both parties were transported to DeKalb Regional Medical Center for injuries apparently resulting from their domestic dispute. DeKalb County investigators are following up on the incident with charges pending the results of the investigation.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson commented: “Even though sometimes investigations that we have to work are hard to work and heartbreaking, the deputies, investigators and Ider, Henagar and Sylvania police officers that assisted in these cases did a great job.”
