Library News: Construction Coming As Library Adds Recording Studio, Parking Places

We want to thank our local McDonald’s for sponsoring McLibrary Night on Monday. With the donation from McDonald’s from sales and our tips, we made almost $1,000 for library programs. Thanks to our volunteers, the Dade Marching Band and all the folks who came by to eat at McDonald’s and support our library.

We also had a great fun night at the library for Trick or Treat on the Square. The library staff were all dressed as characters in Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was going on that evening. The decorations were amazing!

You may see some construction going on at the library in the coming weeks. We received a state MMR Grant to make some improvements, with the county contributing 10 percent in matching funds. We will be putting in a small recording studio, adding some parking spots on one side of the library and putting in handicapped-accessible doors.

We’re having Food for Fines again for most of the month of November (Nov. 1-22). Bring in one can of food for each dollar in overdue fines up to 10 cans. All donations will go to the Tri-State Food Bank.

Thursday, Nov. 16, is Family Movie Evening. The movie will begin at 3:30 p.m. and there will be free popcorn and drinks. Call the library at (706) 657-7857 to find out what the movie will be. Our license does not allow us to advertise the name of the movie.

The library will have a modified schedule during the week of Thanksgiving. We will be closed on Thursday and Friday of that week and there will be no children’s program. We will be open as usual on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday AND we will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help make up for the days we will be closed.

The November Book Club meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. and we will be discussing Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank.
