Garcia Busted for Meth, Pot in DeKalb

On Sunday, Nov. 19, a DeKalb County (Ala.) deputy conducted a traffic stop on County Road 479 and County Road 1999 in the Kilpatrick area. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled a strong odor coming from the vehicle. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, passenger Jose Mora Garcia, 25, of Albertville, was found to have a glass pipe, a small bag of an off-white substance, and a pistol on his person.

Garcia was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. After Garcia was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center, he was also found to have marijuana and methamphetamine on his person, which led to a further charge of promoting prison contraband 2nd.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson commented: “The Deputy did a great job on being observant during this traffic stop and the correction officers in the jail also did a great on being observant when Garcia got to the jail.”
