Dr. Harris Closes Schools For Ice Peril

With freezing rain in tonight's forecast, Dade County Schools Superintendent Jan Harris has just made the call to be safe rather than sorry: All Dade schools will be closed this Monday, Jan. 8.

Dade students are having an unheard-of streak of luck. In the face of last week's uncharacteristically frigid weather, Dr. Harris on Wednesday called for a two-hour delay at all county schools for the rest of the week--just after school had resumed on Tuesday from the long Christmas break.

Weather for the rest of the week is predicted to be wet but above freezing--but don't give up hope, kids. With recent seismic activity in the Chattanooga area, an earthquake is not entirely outside the realm of hope.
