The weather has been a headache for drivers, emergency services personnel and law enforcement, but students and teachers are having some bonus holiday time--Dr. Jan Harris, Superintendent of Schools, just issued the following announcement:
"Due to continued severe weather and the condition of secondary roads, all Dade County schools and [education] offices will be closed on Thursday."
No snow is in the immediate forecasts, but overnight lows are predicted to be in the teens tonight. Temperatures are projected to--in this unusual winter, The Planet hesitates to say "return to normal," but will settle for "creep above freezing"---at some point on Thursday, then soar into the low 50s on Friday.
Dade County government offices will be open on Thursday. as usual for their regular hours.
