Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff’s Office, reported as follows on recent arrests:
On Jan. 25, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Dade County deputy observed a vehicle traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph zone, in the 2000 block of Highway 301.
A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After an investigation into the odor, it was found that the offender was in possession of marijuana.
The deputy also conducted a field sobriety test and concluded that the driver was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. The driver was then transported to the jail and booked.

On Jan. 29, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Dade County deputy observed a vehicle traveling west on Interstate 24 in the Wildwood area. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle for having no tag light, and it was found that the driver had a suspended driver's license.
After an investigation during the stop, it was found that the driver was in possession of marijuana. He was then transported to the jail and booked.

On Feb. 2, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Dade County deputy observed a vehicle traveling with no working tag light in the 2800 block of Highway 299. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and the deputy observed the driver throw an object from the vehicle prior to stopping. The deputy made contact with the vehicle and confirmed that the driver did in fact throw an illegal substance from the vehicle prior to stopping. It was also found that the driver was in possession of marijuana.
The item was recovered from the side of the roadway, in the area where the deputy observe the item to be thrown, and it was found to be narcotics. The driver was then transported to the jail for booking on multiple charges.
