The DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office has made several drugs arrest this week.
On Feb. 9, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 and Burt Hill Drive in Fort Payne. When the deputies made contact with the driver, Brandi Nicole Hulgan (left), 29, of Valley Head, they noticed some syringes hanging out of her jacket pocket. When she stepped out of the vehicle, deputes found syringes, Xanax and methamphetamine in her pockets. She was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of prescription drugs, and she was transported to DeKalb County Detention Center. There, it was found that she had another bag of methamphetamine on her person, which led to charges of promoting prison contraband 2nd.
Also on Feb. 9, DeKalb deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35 and Highway 75 in Rainsville. When the deputies questioned the driver, Christopher Dale Holcomb (right), 44, of Ider, he seemed to be nervous. Deputies got K-9 Yogi out to do an open-air sniff and Yogi alerted on the driver’s side door. As a result of the ensuing search of the vehicle, a small black bag with a spoon and loaded syringes that tested positive for methamphetamine was found.
Holcomb was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Chelsea Marlow Barnes (left), 25, of Trenton, was also arrested for public intoxication.
On Feb. 10, DeKalb deputies were called out to a residence on County Road 386 in Albertville on a domestic call. When they went inside the residence, the deputies found a glass pipe, a smoking pipe, a small bag of marijuana and digital scales in plain sight. As a result, Randy Ray Spence, 32, of Albertville, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested was
Marty Ray Spence (right), 54, of Albertville and Courtany Nicole Jones, 21, of Crossville, who were charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
In another incident that occurred on Feb. 10, deputies were called out to an open-house party on County Road 286 in Albertville. When deputies arrived, a vehicle fled the scene at a high speed. Deputies started following the vehicle and after a short chase the vehicle ran off in a ditch and the passenger started to run on foot. Deputies arrested Jorge Luis Valdez, 19, and Juan Carlos Valdez Carbajal, 21, both of Cleveland, for attempting to elude a police officer.
When the deputies got back to the residence, they smelled a strong odor coming from one of the vehicles in the yard. Deputies did a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the findings of a pill bottle with a small bag of marijuana inside, which led to the arrest of Julio Cesar Chavez Ibarra (left), 20, of Albertville. Ibarra was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of maruijana 2nd. Faustino Francisco-Pascual, 20, of Fort Payne was also arrested and charged with minor consumption of alcohol.
On Feb. 14, DeKalb deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 68 and County Road 113 in Crossville. As a result, Crystal Denise Douglas (right), 49, of Crossville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Minnesota, and she was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd when marijuana and a pipe were found on her.
