DeKalb County Weekend Drug Arrests

On Saturday, March 3, DeKalb County (Ala.) deputies and state troopers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of County Road 169 and County Road 155 in Higdon. While deputies were speaking to the driver of the vehicle, Keith Owen Horton, 47, of Flat Rock, they noticed him to be nervous, and he was unable to produce a valid driver’s license. A search was conducted and as a result pills, a syringe with methamphetamine and a 45-caliber gun were found. Horton was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of prescription drugs and carrying a concealed weapon.

On Sunday, March 4, DeKalb County deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 75 and Highway 40 in Henagar. While deputies were talking to the driver, Twaski Leshon Brown (right), 38, of Toney, Ala., and passenger, Sterling Xavier Beasley (below), 23, of Madison, Ala., they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. With Beasley admitting to using marijuana, a search of the vehicle was conducted and as a result a pill and a gun were found.

Both Brown and Beasley were arrested. Brown was charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs and Beasley was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris thanks the deputies and troopers for being observant in both of these cases.
