Library News: Mystery Addicts, Try Ann Cleeves!

This month’s Family Movie will be shown on Thursday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. Bring the kids by after school and enjoy a free movie with water and popcorn.

The Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss Memory Man by David Baldacci. After a head injury on the football field, Amos Decker is a man who cannot forget anything, which might be helpful for a police detective, but sometimes, it’s not a good thing. The book originally scheduled to be discussed in March, Contempt of Court, will be discussed in April. More on this later.

We had a big group at Ready to Read this week. If you have a little one and haven’t been before, come and check it out. Ready to Read meets on Thursday mornings at 10:30. Also, mark your calendar for Read to Lead on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library and on the square.

Later in the year, the Book Club will be reading the mystery Raven Black by Ann Cleeves. I want to recommend her books, if you are a mystery fan. Cleeves writes two series, one featuring Vera Stanhope and one that takes place in the Shetland Islands. I actually watched the two TV series based on these books before I read any of the books. The two series, Vera and Shetland, are both excellent and so are the books. We have several of the Vera series and we have Raven Black from the Shetland series. We hope to get some more of the Shetland series.

If you haven’t registered for RB Digital yet, please come by the library for assistance if you need it.

There is a used book sale going on at the library now with books half price. VHS tapes are only 50 cents for those who still have a VCR.

The library will be closed on Saturday, March 17, for a construction project.
