Sgt. Chad's Weekly Drug Arrest Roundup

Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Department, reported as follows for Monday, March 12:

On Sunday, March 11, at approximately 2 p.m., Dade County deputies observed a silver pickup truck pull into the sheriff's office driven by a white male. When the male began to exit the vehicle, deputies observed an open bottle of liquor in the car.

The subject began telling deputies that there were people in his vehicle, but deputies were unable to locate anyone other than the driver. Deputies were advised by the driver that he had been "jumped" by seven other people, but later details revealed that the alleged assault happened in Alabama.*

When deputies asked the driver for his ID, he provided deputies with a revoked license. Deputies placed the driver under arrest for driving on a revoked license and with an open container.

After being walked into the Dade County Jail, it was found that the driver was in possession of methamphetamine. He is currently being housed in the Dade County Jail.

William B Hicks, 61 of Trenton, was charged with

  • Driving While License Suspended/Revoked

  • Open Container of Alcohol in Passenger Area

  • Possession of Methamphetamine.

*Editor's note: Sgt. Payne later added, in response to The Planet's question: "As of now, we have still been unable to verify if the assault actually happened."
