Library News: Don't Miss Our Easter Egg Hunt!

This week’s Ready-to-Read class will enjoy an Easter egg hunt for their activity on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The egg hunt will take place at Jenkins Park. This class is for kids 0-5.

Saturday, March 31, is the last day to register for the Blue Ribbon Glow Run. The Glow Run is to raise awareness for child abuse. To sign up, visit the library or go to https://runsignup.com/blueribbonglowrun.

Would you like to get into genealogy research? Our local history room has a collection of books and periodicals with information that might help you. It is also possible to access Ancestry.com for free on the library’s computers.

Recently, we had all our newspapers that were on microfilm converted to a digital and searchable form, so that you can see if there are articles about your ancestors. We have volunteers who can help you get started, but it would be a good idea to make an appointment if you want assistance. You can also leave information about a person you are researching and one of the volunteers could see what they could find for you. The volunteers are usually at the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our Book Club enjoyed discussing Memory Man last week. This is the first book in the Amos Decker series by David Baldacci. Books 2 and 3 are The Last Mile and The Fix. The fourth book in this series, The Fallen, comes out in April.

Next month the Book Club will be discussing Contempt of Court: The Turn of the Century Lynching That Launched a Hundred Years of Federalism by Leroy Phillips. This is about the lynching that took place on the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court. There was an article in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press recently about erecting a monument in memory of Ed Johnson, the innocent man who died at the hands of the lynch mob. A great read for those interested in local history.

With spring break coming up for the schools, bring the kids by and get them some books to read!
