Sgt. Chad Reports on Mapco Armed Robbery, Needs Any Info on Suspect



Editor's Note: Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office, submitted his weekly crime roundup report a day late this week due to a death in his family. Condolences, Sgt. Chad!

On Wednesday, March 21, at approximately 1:13 a.m., an armed robbery was committed at the Mapco convenience store located at 955 Highway 299 in Wildwood by a black male, approximately 40 years of age, wearing gray pants, a dark long-sleeve shirt and a dark ball cap with a white bill.


​​The ball cap had a red "A" on the front, and the suspect was wearing light-colored sneakers. The subject also had a white cord, resembling speaker wire, attached to his right ear and the wire went to the waist area of the male. (See the blurred images included here.)


The subject had a small blue-steel semi-automatic pistol in his right hand, and appeared to be about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weigh approximately 180 pounds. He had short hair and a small beard, both of which appeared to be black and gray in color.

He left the store with two orange drinks, two wood-tip cigars, one pack of Newport cigarettes, four cartons of Newport cigarettes, and cash and change from the store register.
