The Georgia State Patrol, while specifying its report on the incident is not yet complete, released the following details on Tuesday's rollover accident in the Slygo area of I-59:
"On March 28, at approximately 3:25 p.m., a dump truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 59. The truck's left front tire deflated, causing the driver to lose control of the truck. The truck rotated counterclockwise, overturned onto its right side, left the east edge of the roadway and came to an uncontrolled final rest, facing west, off the west edge of Interstate 59. The driver, Randy Lawson, age 49 of Trenton, was injured and airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center."
Dade County deputies also worked the accident, and Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the sheriff's office, added the additional details that the accident was near the 16-mile marker on I-59.
"Upon the arrival of deputies, it was found that the driver was already out of the truck," reported Sgt. Payne. "LifeForce Air Medical was dispatched to the scene, which caused the interstate to be shut down for approximately 45 minutes. The dump truck was also hauling gravel, which was spread all over the southbound side of I-59, causing the interstate to be shut down even longer for cleanup. Overall, interstate travel was disrupted on I-59 for approximately 3 hours."

Individual Facebook accounts report that several drivers had gotten in first and helped pull Lawson from the truck.
