Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade Sheriff's Department, reported as follows on Tuesday, April 24:
On April 14th, at approximately 3 a.m., a deputy observed a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 59 near the Deerhead Cove (Rising Fawn) exit. After observing the vehicle cross the fog line several times, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on Deerhead Cove Road. After a brief investigation, it was found that the driver was intoxicated. After a field sobriety test, the subject was taken into custody for DUI and transported to the Dade County jail for booking.
Justin T Owens, 23, of Hoover, Ala., was charged with:
Failure to Maintain Lane
DUI Alcohol.
On April 17, at approximately midnight, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling south on Scenic Highway, driving with its bright lights on. After the deputy got behind the vehicle, he observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane. After the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, the vehicle continued another four miles to Durham Road.
After the vehicle came to a stop, and the deputy approached the driver, he observed a very strong odor of alcohol coming from within the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the jail for booking. After arriving at the jail, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Failure to Maintain Lane
Driving While License Suspended/Revoked
Possession of Marijuana
