Southern Living magazine’s May issue has an article about the best state parks in the South. For the best state park in Georgia, SL chose our own Cloudland Canyon State Park. The library has park passes that you can check out for free parking at Cloudland Canyon and other Georgia state parks. We have four of them, so there is usually one available.
The Teen Advisory Board will have its second meeting on Tuesday, May 8, at 4 p.m. We will elect leaders and discuss bylaws. Snacks will be provided. Teens 13 to 18 are welcome.
The Parent Café Mother’s Day Mommy and Me Spa Day will be Tuesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity to show Mom appreciation with a little pampering including a hand massage, nail painting or getting a new hairstyle. Light refreshments will be available. Call (706) 657-7857 to sign up; only a few slots are available.
Summer Reading signups also begin on Tuesday, May 8. Go to our website at chrl.org to register and then come by the library and pick up a bag for each child. If your child does not have a library card already, please come by the library and get one. Library cards are free for Georgia residents, people who own property in Georgia and people who work in Georgia.
The Book Club meeting for May will be Tuesday, May 15, and we will be discussing The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
