Here's Your Chance for a Piece of 1945

Writer's picture: Robin Ford WallaceRobin Ford Wallace

This year will be Dade's first ever 1945 Fourth of July festival. Kids' games, live music, cornhole and horseshoe tournaments, Miss Dade County contest, men’s hairy leg contest and many many more activities are planned for that day, starting at 2 p.m. and capped off with a Fourth of July celebration parade and fireworks show!

This gala event is being staged by the Dade Chamber of Commerce in commemoration of Dade's wild festivities of July 4, 1945, when in a spirit of joyous patriotism at the end of World War II the county formally rejoined the U.S. after seceding from it unilaterally in the Civil War--or so the story goes.

In any case, business owners have the opportunity to participate by reserving a booth to promote their business or to plan a fundraiser. Booth spaces are available from Jenkins Park to South Main Street and Veterans Park in Trenton. Booth spaces are $50 without power hookups or $75 with power.

Please contact Cheryl Allison at the Dade County Chamber of Commerce if you’d like to reserve your space--(706) 657-4488.

We hope you’ll participate. Please watch the 1945 Dade County Fair Facebook page for updates on all the activities. Here's a link:
