Library News: Scavenger Hunts On Tap for Adults and Teens This Summer

Summer Reading will begin on Thursday, June 7, and our first program will be our kickoff and the LEGO Expo. Go to chrl.org and find the Summer Reading icon to sign your child up. You can also sign yourself up at that site because there will be Summer Reading programs for children, teens and adults. We will have more information available on the LEGO Expo next week.

The Adult Summer Reading program will begin on June 1. We will be hiding rocks throughout the community and at local businesses that are sponsoring Summer Reading. We will have a list of these sponsors available at the library. These rocks will have titles of books that are in a series. Trade with your friends or even the library staff to try and get a whole series. The first person to bring us a complete series wins a $25 gift card.

We will keep giving out prizes all summer for each person who brings in a completed series. We will have a list of the series’ names at the library and on our FB page.

Teens will have a Photo Scavenger Hunt that will run throughout the summer. Teens will receive a list of tasks, such as, “Use a State Park Pass & take a photo of yourself while on a hike,” then come by the library and show us your photo and get your scavenger hunt page stamped.

The first regular program is Wednesday, June 13, at 2 p.m. and it is Coffeehouse Trivia. More information on this later as well.

Next month’s Book Club will meet on Tuesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at the library. We will be discussing Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, by J.D. Vance. It is a beautiful memoir and a work of cultural criticism about white, working-class America. Join us if you are interested.
